About us

Pioneering Nature’s Power

Who we Are
The Alliance for Biosolutions is a dynamic coalition of industry leaders, innovative startups, research institutions, and ecosystem partners dedicated to driving the green transition. Established in 2020 under the Danish Chamber of Commerce, we are at the forefront of a movement that leverages nature’s own tools—biosolutions—to transform industries and create a sustainable future.
Our Mission
Our mission is to accelerate the adoption of biosolutions across sectors, fostering a significant shift from fossil-based practices to green, nature-inspired innovations. We unite businesses, researchers, and policymakers to advocate for favorable regulatory frameworks, promote investment in green technologies, and elevate the global position of Danish biosolutions.

Nature’s toolbox, reimagined

What are biosolutions?

Biosolutions are sustainable solutions produced with the use of biotechnology, i.e., living microorganisms such as bacterial cultures, fungae, algae and/or their products, such as enzymes, proteins, and pheromones.

By using nature’s own toolbox and applying it in scale, companies and research are leading the way in advancing sustainable biotechnical solutions that contribute immensely to combatting climate change as well as safeguarding biodiversity and ensuring food for a growing population.

Through the implementation of biobased products and innovation, biosolutions are already revolutionizing sectors across industries, while still holding the potential for much more.

Harnessing the power of nature

Nature’s tools

Using bacteria, enzymes, plant fibers, and biological material as the building blocks for green innovation.

Sustainable transformation

Transforming these natural elements into sustainable alternatives, replacing fossil-based and chemical products.

Impact on the planet

Reducing carbon emissions, enhancing biodiversity, and securing food for a growing population.

Harnessing the power of nature

The potential is clear

Green transition, jobs, growth and export

Biosolutions are more than just innovative products; they are a catalyst for the green transition

Reducing carbon emissions

Biosolutions have the potential to cut global CO2 emissions by 4,300 million tonnes by 2030, which equals 8% of current global emissions.

Our achievements

Making a difference with biosolutions

Gaining political traction and influence

We have successfully increased political attention on the potential of biosolutions, and our efforts have led to commitments from the Danish government to develop a national strategy and regulatory framework for biosolutions, positioning Denmark as a leader in sustainable innovation.

Building powerful collaborations

We established the first collaboration that brings together leading companies, SMEs, startups, research institutions, and NGOs, fostering a unified approach to biosolutions. This collaboration not only strengthens Denmark’s biosolutions ecosystem but also sets a benchmark for international cooperation.

Engaging the public and stakeholders

As a core partner at the “BIO stage” during the People’s Meeting (Folkemødet), we’ve showcased the transformative power of biosolutions to a wide range of stakeholders, enhancing public awareness and support for sustainable practices.

Pioneering high-level discussions

We initiated the first-ever Biosolutions High-Level Summit in 2023, themed “Towards a Sustainable Future with Solutions from Nature.” This summit brought together global leaders, policymakers, and innovators to discuss the role of biosolutions in tackling climate challenges, setting the stage for continued dialogue and action.

Our members are driving real change with innovative solutions that make a measurable difference.
